Sorry, this blog post is kinda on a sad topic... Saying goodbye.
A friend of mine showed me the song "Say Goodbye" by Skillet, and it got me thinking about saying goodbye again, and why it hurts...
True.
Sometimes you have to go searching instead of saying goodbye.

That's what makes me smile, even when missing people makes me want to cry... Even as I get older, busier, and friends do the same, I remember that the friendships we have here are only a reflection of what we will have in glory... Until then I have to trust that the friends I love belong to God first and He can take our friendships where He wills.

I always have a hard time with goodbyes.. Always. I'm almost positive that has to do with the fact that I'm not a fan of change- I like being comfortable.
ReplyDeleteGoodbyes ache me.. It's like my heart feels pain until I'm assured that the next thing is better.. which sometimes doesn't happen until many months or weeks later. I've related this ultimately to how I often have closed fists, instead of open ones, when I pray to God for healing. Instead of having my closed fists, I need to have open hands realizing that God's plans are much better, and that goodbyes are not merely goodbyes, but "see you laters" (for the Christian that is!)

Yeah, I'm not a fan of change too... God has been helping me through some changes lately and teaching me to rely on Him through them. =) As you said, yes, God's plans are much better than ours and we need to be open to Him... even when those plans bring us to goodbyes. :)
